A key challenge in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) is how to create enough, and at the same time, decent jobs for a young and growing population estimated to reach 2.2 billion people by the year 2050. Several government policies have been initiated in the past decade to create jobs and improve the quality of jobs. While some policies are quite ambitious but lack in implementation, others have been implemented, but their effect on job creation has been limited. This video on employment creation in Africa by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Economic Policy Competence Centre(FES-EPCC) aims at highlighting the employment situation in Africa, recommending progressive solutions to curbing unemployment in Africa and the role of FES in decent employment creation discourse in Africa.
