On 25th November 2021, the Trades Union Congress in partnership with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Ghana Office, organized a post-budget forum on the theme, Fiscal Consolidation and Job Creation. The forum assessed the budget statement presented to parliament on 17th November 2017. Prior to this forum, the TUC had submitted recommendations to the government after a pre-budget forum which saw individual unions sharing their expectations and proposals for the 2022 budget statement and economic policy. The submission from the TUC highlighted inclusive economic recovery, employment creation and improved livelihoods for workers and their families. Further, the TUC (Ghana) requested the government to revamp the covid-19 vaccination programme, pass the tax exemptions bill, address the unemployment and pensions challenges, among others.

The post-budget forum saw the attendance of the finance minister, Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta. He presented highlights of the 2022 budget statement and economic policy and engaged with leaders of the various national unions on their concerns on the budget statement. The forum was also attended by the leadership of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) and the Nurses and Registered Midwives Association (NARM).
