JOB POLICY FAIR

Migration as an adaptive strategy to make ends meet for the most affected labour force in the Northern region has exposed them to harsh conditions which threaten their existence and survival. Again, the movement of a youthful labour force from the Northern part of Ghana potentially retards its development. The government has thus rolled out several policies to increase investment in infrastructure, human resources, and economic activities to create sustainable livelihood and development in the Northern part of Ghana. But how far-reaching are these policies? How inclusive are the conceptualization and implementation of these policies? Are beneficiaries well informed about these policies? How are vulnerable groups positioned to harness the gains of these policies?

Thus, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Economic Policy Competence Centre (FESEPCC) and Youth Advocacy on Rights and Opportunities organized a Job Policy Fair to explore existing policies for the full benefit of job seekers and entrepreneurs. Further, the policy fair provided the youth with a platform to shape new strategies and reformulate job creation policies to reflect their needs. It also created a space for successful enterprises that have emanated from government interventions to exhibit their products and services; to serve as reference points towards reducing migration. The event took place from 24th – 25th November 2021. It was on the theme; Innovative Job Creation Policies: Tools for Solving the Unemployment Situation in Ghana.
